Christmas in April has arrived for music lovers everywhere, as Record Store Day is upon us.
While almost everybody loves a good tune, there is something to be said for listening to your favorite music on vinyl. So much in fact there’s a whole day dedicated to celebrating vinyl records and the stores that sell them.

What is RSD?
This is the 16th annual Record Store Day, which is a global celebration of the culture of the record store. Select music is revived for the avid listener, as well as new music from their favorite artists. Stores tend to offer discounts and some even host live performances. It is widely considered the largest single album release day of the year.
What Peoria-area stores are particiapting in Illinois?
There are two stores participating in the Peoria-area.
Co-op Records Pekin: The store is celebrating its 25th anniversary, which means patrons will enjoy 25% off on used CDs, used vinyl, posters, tapestries, t-shirts and more. Plus, score a free t-shirt when you make a $100 purchase or more. Sizes are small to extra-large while supplies last. Hours: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Address: 3253 Court St., Pekin. Younger Than Yesterday: The store will be open two hours earlier than normal and offer 30% off previous RSD and Black Friday titles. There will be reissues of rare, vintage and previously unreleased titles available by all genres and artists of all generations. The release list for Record Store Day 2023 was announced back in February and includes such artists as Record Store Day co-ambassadors and husband-wife tandem Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires, Taylor Swift, Van Halen, Motley Crue, The Rolling Stones, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, RZA, Elton John, The Doors and more.
